TANKA or RENGA ?! Gillena Cox & STOPS
Tanka este o poezie cu formă fixă din literatura japoneză, care constă din cinci unități cu o formă a silabelor în fiecare vers de tip 5-7-5 / 7-7.
Partea care conține 5-7-5 se numește kami-no-ku („fraza superioară”) și 7-7 shimo-no-ku („fraza inferioară”). Tanka e o formă de poezie mai veche decâthaiku. În vremurile mai vechi era numită hanka („poem răsturnat”), pentru că era de fapt o adiționare plus concluzie la o chōka.
În era Heian a existat un grup de poeți care se numeau cei mai buni șase autori de waka și un altul de treizeci și șase de poeți. Poeta contemporanăMachi Tawara a încercat să dea o viață nouă acestei poezii.
La jumătatea erei Heian a apărut un joc nou. Cineva recita sau crea un kami-no-ku sau shimo-no-ku, și cerea celuilalt participant să alipească un alt vers. Acest tip de tanka, bazat pe principiul „brain storming”, a primit numele renga.
Renga este o formă de poezie cu formă fixă, care a apărut în Japonia în era Heian, cu prilejul concursurilor de poezie de la curtea imperială. Constă din cel puțin două "strofe". Prima strofă, denumită hokku, reprezintă baza de plecare pentru poezia haiku.
Practic, renga este o tanka scrisă de doi poeți, primul compunând tristihul de 5-7-5 silabe, iar al doilea răspunzând cu distihul de 7-7 silabe, astfel că poemul realizat este un poem de sine stătător.
Au existat variante în care răspunsul putea fi dat și de mai mulți poeți, ba chiar putea fi pus în fața poemului de început.
Un concurs de renga, denumit rengaawase se desfășoară, conform unor reguli precise și complexe, după cum urmează: [1]
Doi sau mai mulți poeți își completează reciproc poemele: după ce primul oferă primele 3 versuri ale unei prezumtive tanka, următorul completează cu celelalte două. Esențială este o bună legătură dintre imaginile fiecărei strofe.

Faster, Higher, Funnier!
New Izvestia announces its 5th International Cartoon Competition devoted to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi
Starting on February 7th and lasting until February 23rd, 2014, the Russian city of Sochi will be hosting the XXII Winter Olympic Games.
Approximately 5 months before the start of the main sport events, the newspaper New Izvestia encourages artists from all around the world to participate in a contest to create a sports themed cartoon. The contests theme is "Faster, Higher, Funnier!”
Following the principles of the Olympic Movement, we declare that our contestants only submit pieces that promote humor and laughter in order to compete for the maximum number of smiles. Any artist, regardless of age, gender, skin color, political beliefs, as well as ability to skate or ski, is eligible to enter into the contest.
Moreover, the competition is open to potential sponsors who are willing to determine the winners of this creative contest and offer a reward. We guarantee that winners will receive cash prizes and rank in the categories of gold, silver and bronze. No matter, the main purpose is not to win but to participate and enjoy doing so.
We will keep the names of the winners until the last moment, when the competition ends in February 2014, right before the start of the Olympic Games in Sochi. So, in reality, there is not too much time left to enter. Therefore, we hope that artists from around the world will faster take advantage of this opportunity and be able to create a great piece work that raises higher the bar for humor and is able to portray funnier the comical aspect of sports in general and the Winter Olympic Games in particular.
